Three Women Killed in Explosion at Avangard Plant in Sterlitamak

An explosion at the Avangard plant in Sterlitamak has resulted in the deaths of three women and injuries to five others, who remain hospitalized. The incident occurred on the evening of October 17, prompting an immediate response from rescue teams.

The head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, confirmed the fatalities via his Telegram channel, noting the victims included a young woman born in 2002, and that two of the deceased had children. He also stated that compensation will be provided to the families of those who died.

Five individuals injured in the explosion are currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital. Two are reported to be in serious condition, while the remaining three are in moderate condition.

According to Radiy Khabirov, the explosion destroyed one of the plant’s buildings. He clarified that initial speculation of a UAV attack was unfounded, stating that the incident was an explosion, the causes of which are now under investigation by criminologists.

Rescuers worked throughout the night to recover individuals from under the rubble. The Avangard plant is known for producing weapons and ammunition under a state defense order. Residents of Sterlitamak reported that the smoke from the explosion was visible across the city.
