Moscow Prosecutor’s Office Investigates Animal Cruelty Case After Woman Beats Dog in Elevator

The Kuzminskaya Interdistrict Prosecutor’s Office is overseeing a preliminary investigation into a case of alleged animal cruelty after a woman was filmed beating a dog inside an elevator in Moscow. The incident occurred in a building on Samarkandsky Boulevard and was captured on camera, prompting a resident to alert law enforcement.

The video shows the woman grabbing the dog by its collar, throwing it into the elevator, and then kicking it multiple times.

If found guilty under Article 245 of the Criminal Code, the woman could face a fine of up to 80,000 rubles, correctional labor, or imprisonment for up to three years.

This incident follows a recent case in Kotelniki near Moscow, where a grooming salon owner was accused of beating a Maltipoo dog. The groomer was subsequently fired, and the pet owner was compensated, although salon employees have reportedly received threats.

In another separate incident, teenagers in Domodedovo near Moscow allegedly burned a stray cat. The cat was rescued by local residents and animal rights activists, and police are currently searching for the individuals responsible.
