Fire at Moscow Cable Car’s Luzhniki Station

A fire at the administrative building of the Moscow cable car’s Luzhniki station caused a brief disruption, but has since been extinguished. All 30 people inside the building evacuated before emergency services arrived.

The incident resulted from a damaged cable during construction, leading to a temporary halt of the cable car operations and passenger disembarkation. Authorities have stated that the safety of passengers is no longer at risk.

Although the issues have been resolved, the cable car ceased operations earlier than scheduled for the day.

The Moscow cable car, which opened in 2018, connects the Luzhniki sports complex with the observation platform on Vorobyovy Gory across the Moscow River.

Earlier in the day, a separate fire occurred at a motor oil production workshop in Pushkino, Moscow region, sending plumes of smoke into the air.
