The average nominal salary in St. Petersburg reached 117,911 rubles for the period of January to June 2025. This represents a 12.9% increase compared to the previous year, according to Petrostat data released on October 30.
Adjusted for inflation, real incomes of citizens also saw a rise of 3.4%.
A significant income gap exists between different sectors of the economy.
The mining sector leads with an average salary of 282,923 rubles. Water transport activities follow at 199,493 rubles, then air and space transport at 198,843 rubles. The financial and insurance sector reports 186,119 rubles, and the IT industry shows 182,815 rubles.
Hotel and catering employees earn an average of 69,699 rubles. Postal and courier service employees earn slightly above 49,000 rubles.
Territorial disparities are also present. Primorsky district leads with 192,351 rubles, followed by Vasileostrovsky (182,557 rubles) and Petrogradsky (177,210 rubles). Kolpinsky (122,883 rubles) and Krasnoselsky (113,248 rubles) districts reported the lowest figures.
The hospitality sector experienced high growth dynamics, with nominal income soaring by 23.6%. Other sectors with significant increases include clothing production (+32.3%), metal products (+26.3%), food products (+21.6%), and car production (+20.5%).
Despite leading in salary levels, growth in the extractive industry has practically stopped, increasing by only 0.2%.
Earlier in October, Governor Alexander Beglov stated that the average nominal salary in St. Petersburg for January–July 2025 was 117.8 thousand rubles, consistent with Petrostat data.
