A repairman in St. Petersburg will face trial for allegedly stealing a miter saw and water heater from a customer’s apartment. The city prosecutor’s office reported on October 31 that the accused spent the proceeds from selling the stolen tools on bets.
The investigation revealed that the theft occurred between June and July 2025 while the repairman was working in an apartment on Novgorodsky Prospekt in Shushary. Driven by a need for money, he decided to steal the miter saw and water heater, causing a total damage of 45,000 rubles.
The man pawned the stolen items and used the money for gambling. He reportedly hoped to win, repurchase the tools, and return them before completing the repairs.
The prosecutor’s office stated that the man is charged under Part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which addresses “Theft causing significant damage to a citizen.”
The criminal case, with the approved indictment, has been sent to the Pushkinsky District Court of St. Petersburg.
