Victoria Zakharova, a 12-year-old schoolgirl from Riazan, has successfully passed the blind auditions for the “The Voice Kids” TV show (0+). All of the mentors turned their chairs for her, but opera singer Aida Garifullina was the first. Vika is now part of Aida’s team and is determined to win, believing that her talent and hard work have earned her this opportunity.
Vika’s performance of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” captivated all the mentors. She had been practicing the song for nearly a year and felt confident in her ability to perform it well.
Vika’s vocal coach, Leila Nikitina, noted that Vika possesses a strong vocal apparatus and utilizes a belting technique to express emotions through her singing. Leila, a well-known teacher who has guided many aspiring singers, had once dreamed of performing “My Heart Will Go On” herself.
The young singer survived four rejections on the way to the stage. Vika first auditioned for “The Voice Kids” at the age of 8, but didn’t get past the first round and wasn’t shown on air. Despite this, she continued to compete in various competitions and worked on her skills. Leila experimented with her repertoire until they found the perfect songs and image for Vika.
Leila shared her experience of participating in shows like “Songs on TNT” and that talent alone is not enough for success; the right repertoire and showmanship are also crucial. She also emphasized the importance of mental resilience, as filming can be demanding.
Vika, who excels in her studies and is learning four foreign languages, has dreamed of becoming a singer since she was 4 years old. She enjoys a wide range of music and even writes her own songs. She aspires to participate in Intervision and represent her country.
Vika’s mother, Maria, mentioned that Vika has a younger brother, Lev, who is also a singer. The children support each other, and the parents do not pressure them to pursue musical careers.
