Last night, the spectacle of Orion and Jupiter rising above Lake Ladoga captivated stargazers, offering breathtaking views of the celestial display. Although many hoped to catch a glimpse of the elusive Northern Lights, they did not appear.
The event, captured in a series of magical photographs on October 18th, was shared by the Telegram channel “AstroFotoBoloto.” The images reveal not only the prominent constellation and planet but also a distant segment of the Milky Way galaxy and the fleeting streaks of Orionid meteors.
While the Northern Lights remained absent, the starry sky’s inherent beauty provided ample visual delight.
The constellation Orion, typically at its most brilliant in January, starts its ascent during the latter half of autumn. The rising of Orion, referring to the moment the constellation emerges and ascends in the southeast, marks the beginning of its visibility.
