Traffic in Centar is heavily congested, with residents facing delays in their daily routines. According to former mayor Saša Bogdanović, the situation is a result of numerous construction sites, causing people to be late for work, school, and kindergarten.
Bogdanović highlighted that over 150 active construction sites and nearly 400 building permits issued in the past four years have significantly impacted traffic flow. He emphasized the strain this puts on existing infrastructure.
In contrast, Bogdanović pointed to a period when revised urban plans aimed to coordinate construction with citizens’ needs, leading to improved living conditions. He noted that these revisions resulted in almost 14,000 square meters less for construction. Furthermore, state-owned buildings were repurposed into kindergartens, parks, and playgrounds, expanding green spaces and recreational areas.
Bogdanović claims that only three plans were changed despite the large number of permits being issued, and that the infrastructure was not changed anywhere. He posted a video on social media to showcase the extent of the congestion in Centar.
