Danela Arsovska, the outgoing mayor of Skopje, is facing her second assailant in court following an incident that occurred on July 11, 2025. The incident took place during an on-site inspection in the Municipality of Chair, specifically at a location where an illegal building was under construction across from the police station.
Authorities intervened before a physical assault could occur. The City of Skopje stated that the individual has a history of serious criminal offenses and has served multiple prison sentences.
Following the incident, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, based on a security assessment from the National Security Agency, assigned Arsovska 24-hour protection.
On September 2, the Basic Criminal Court Skopje found Sulejman Ljamalari guilty of violence in connection with the same event. Ljamalari was sentenced to two years in prison. The City reported that Ljamalari showed no remorse and acted disrespectfully towards the court and the public during the proceedings.
