Performance of the Opera “Pagliacci” at the National Opera and Ballet

The opera “Pagliacci” by Ruggero Leoncavallo will be performed on November 7th at the National Opera and Ballet. The performance is scheduled for 8:00 PM.

This renowned work of Italian verismo tells a story of love, passion, and revenge. The production features a guest conductor from Hungary, Kochar Balaz, and is directed by Dejan Proshev.

The creative team includes scenographer Ilina Angelovska, costume designer Nikola Buleski, choreographer Olga Pango, concertmaster Kliment Todoroski, and choirmasters Gjurgjica Dashik and Jasmina Gjorgeska.

The soloist ensemble consists of Deshira Ameti Krliu as Nedda, Antonello Palombi from Italy as Canio/Pagliaccio, Marjan Jovanoski as Tonio, Dragan Ampov as Silvio, and Jane Dunimagloski as Harlequin. The choir, orchestra, and ballet soloists of the National Opera and Ballet will also participate.

“Pagliacci,” which premiered in Milan in 1892, is known for its exploration of the blurred boundaries between art and reality. Leoncavallo wrote the libretto himself, drawing inspiration from a real-life event.

The opera features the iconic aria “Vesti la giubba,” which highlights the hidden pain behind outward appearances. The work remains one of the most emotionally resonant and frequently performed operas.
