End of Campaign for Second Round of Local Elections and Start of Election Silence

The campaign for the second round of local elections in North Macedonia has concluded, with election silence now in effect until the polls close at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Voters in 32 municipalities and the City of Skopje will cast their ballots for mayors.

Voting will also be repeated for councilors at three polling stations in Shuto Orizari. Due to a lack of quorum in the initial round on October 19th, the election process will be rerun in Gostivar, Vrapcishte, Centar Zupa, and Mavrovo and Rostushe.

VMRO-DPMNE held its final rally in Skopje last night. Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski voiced his anticipation for a significant victory in the second round. Orce Gjorgjievski, the candidate for mayor of the City of Skopje, urged residents to participate in large numbers.

The ZNAM movement announced a mini-rally featuring addresses by Mickoski, Gjorgjievski, and Miroslav Labudovic, the mayoral candidate for Centar. Amar Mecinovic, the Levica candidate, is scheduled to hold a final press conference today.

In Skopje, 474,304 eligible voters will choose between Orce Gjorgjievski from VMRO-DPMNE and Amar Mecinovic from Levica on Sunday.
