The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kumanovo has launched an investigation against a Serbian citizen suspected of drug trafficking after a large quantity of marijuana was discovered at the Tabanovce border crossing. The suspect is accused of “Unauthorized production and distribution of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors” under Article 215 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
On October 29, authorities at the Tabanovce border crossing intercepted a truck with a semi-trailer (refrigerator) bearing Slovenian license plates. During an inspection, customs officials discovered 129.7 kilograms of marijuana concealed within the vehicle.
The drugs were packaged in 14 bags and hidden inside the truck, which is owned by a transport company from Slovenia.
Following the discovery, the public prosecutor has requested that the pre-trial judge of the Basic Court in Kumanovo order the detention of the suspect pending further investigation.
