Over a four-day period, traffic controls throughout the country resulted in thousands of fines and several arrests, primarily for speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol. According to the Ministry of Interior, police officers issued 2,382 payment orders between October 27th and 30th.
A significant portion of these, 443 violations, were for drivers exceeding the prescribed speed limit.
Twelve individuals were arrested for reckless driving under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code, all related to driving while intoxicated.
The statistical overview of police activities also revealed 733 violations for improper parking. Authorities imposed 306 measures on drivers operating vehicles without a valid driver’s license and 32 sanctions for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Furthermore, 19 motorcycle drivers were penalized for not wearing protective helmets, and 14 pedestrians were sanctioned for various violations. 174 traffic participants received sanctions for not using a seat belt.
Under the Law on Vehicles, 81 vehicles were removed from traffic due to being unregistered, and 43 were removed due to technical defects. Additionally, 18 drivers were sanctioned for violating regulations regarding vehicle window tinting.
The Ministry of Interior stated that traffic controls will continue and urged all traffic participants to adhere to traffic laws and regulations.
