Stevcho Jakimovski Accused of Privatizing Public Land in Vlae for Personal Gain

Stevcho Jakimovski, the mayor of Karposh, is under scrutiny following allegations of privatizing public land in the Vlae settlement for personal profit. According to VMRO-DPMNE, the company Apollo Engineering, reportedly linked to Jakimovski, acquired land in Vlae through a privatization process, part of which includes a section of Esperanto Street, located in front of Kino Vlae.

The opposition party claims that this effectively turns a public street into private property. VMRO-DPMNE alleges that Apollo Engineering submitted geodetic surveys in 2016 and 2017, after the adoption of the Detailed Urban Plan (DUP) signed by Jakimovski.

The DUP allegedly designates the site for a high-rise building, suggesting the plan was designed to facilitate Apollo Engineering’s acquisition of the land. Apollo Engineering reportedly paid a mere 285 denars per square meter for the land, totaling approximately 3,500 euros, a sum significantly below the market value for land in the Vlae area.

Months after the privatization, the company purportedly sold the land to Jonche Spirkovski, the owner of Apollo Engineering, for 2,950,000 denars. VMRO-DPMNE characterizes this transaction as a fictitious deal where public interest is sacrificed for private gain, accusing Jakimovski of transforming the municipality into a personal business for profit, while neglecting the citizens.
