Woman Hits and Kills Wolf Pup in Vejers Strand, Denmark

A wolf pup was killed in Vejers Strand, Varde Municipality, after being struck by a car on Vejers Havvej Thursday evening. The incident occurred shortly after 8:00 PM, prompting a police response and the involvement of the Nature Agency.

The driver, a woman, contacted the police immediately after the collision to report that she had accidentally killed a wolf. Authorities then alerted the Nature Agency, whose wolf patrol retrieved the deceased animal from the roadside.

According to reports, the woman remained inside her vehicle after the incident, as she observed other wolves in the vicinity and felt unsafe exiting the car.

The deceased wolf has been identified as a pup from a litter of six born in May. This information was confirmed by Kent Olsen, head of Wolf Monitoring in Denmark.

The wolf pup is currently being stored in a freezer pending an autopsy at the University of Copenhagen. The examination will likely provide further insights into the animal’s health and the circumstances surrounding its death.
