Axelsen is working towards regaining his top form, having recently returned to competition after a six-month hiatus due to a back injury. He underwent surgery in April and made his comeback just a month prior to the Denmark Open at a tournament in Hong Kong.
In the quarter-final, Axelsen faced an initial setback, falling behind 0-4. However, he recovered and made the first set competitive.
The first set showcased fast-paced, world-class badminton. Vitidsarn accelerated his game, winning ten consecutive points to secure the set 21-13.
Axelsen responded in the second set with focused pressure, taking an early lead of 11-4 and maintaining control to win the set.
In the decisive set, Vitidsarn displayed aggressive play, challenging Axelsen’s balance. Despite appearing exhausted, Axelsen persevered. Winning the majority of the final long rallies, Axelsen ultimately clinched his place in the semi-final.
