Residents of Munkebjerg Park in Odense will begin returning to their homes on Friday afternoon after being evacuated due to concerns about the stability of balcony foundations.

Odense Municipality’s head of urban development, Birgitte J.K.T. Nielsen, confirmed that 97 residents from the stairwells Munkebjerg Park 5-7, which comprise one apartment block, are cleared to return.

The evacuation, which began on Friday, affected a total of 249 residents across 188 homes in Munkebjerg Park following an assessment indicating the need to reinforce the foundations supporting the balconies of five buildings.

The remaining residents of Munkebjerg Park will receive an update next week regarding the possibility of their return to their homes, according to the head of urban development.
