Jonatan Spang is facing new accusations, including a police report filed by another woman alleging sexual assault. The comedian addressed the situation in an Instagram post, stating that he does not recognize the accusations and will not comment further.
The new allegations follow Spang’s dismissal from his role as host of the DR program “Tæt på sandheden” in September, after accusations of assault against a 15-year-old girl in 2009 surfaced.
Assistant attorney Helle Hald confirmed that she has been appointed to represent the woman who reported Spang for the alleged 2009 sexual assault, which occurred when the woman was 16 years old. Hald added that the woman has already been questioned by the police.
The woman who reported the incident in 2009 previously told Berlingske that she contacted DR after Spang reinitiated contact with her last year after several years of no communication. She confronted him about the incident, and he responded that they had experienced the situation differently.
Spang acknowledged the previous accusations on Instagram at the time, stating that he should have acted more responsibly and never have started a relationship with “such a young person.” The woman has reported the comedian to the police for assault. “I have been in doubt about reporting because it happened so many years ago. I thought the case was statute-barred, but now that I have been informed that there is no statute of limitations, it feels like the right thing to do,” the woman said.
Spang’s press officer, David Birch, stated that the comedian will not comment on the new accusations until the police have investigated them. He added in his post that he has “nothing further to add until the police have investigated the accusations”.
Copenhagen Police has declined to confirm or deny any charges against named individuals.
