GB Meat Group Recalls Beef Flank Steak Due to Salmonella Risk

GB Meat Group is recalling its garlic-marinated beef flank steak sold under the Slagteren brand in Bilka and Føtex stores nationwide due to potential salmonella contamination. The recall was initiated as a precaution after a deviation was detected, indicating a possible health risk to consumers.

The affected product is garlic-marinated beef flank steak with a best before date of October 31, 2025, and EAN number 5710076003199. It was sold in sizes ranging from 250 to 400 grams between October 7 and October 31.

Consumers who have purchased the implicated beef flank steak are urged not to consume it. They should either discard the product or return it to the store for a refund.

Salmonella infections, while relatively common, can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, and fever. Symptoms typically last from a few days to several weeks and are usually mild, resolving on their own. However, individuals experiencing persistent symptoms should contact their doctor.

Salmonella is often transmitted through food, particularly meat, salads, or dairy products. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration advises thorough cooking of minced meat and poultry to prevent infection. While bacteria in whole cuts of meat like steak are usually only on the surface, it is recommended to wash hands before cooking, avoid tasting raw meat, and keep raw meat separate from ready-to-eat foods.
