Two Romanian citizens face charges for allegedly stealing large quantities of coffee from stores across Denmark. The suspects are believed to be traveling criminals and are implicated in 17 separate shoplifting incidents.
The thefts, targeting primarily the Lavazza brand, resulted in losses exceeding 100,000 kroner. Quantities stolen ranged from approximately 20 to 60 bags per incident, according to South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police.
The police suspect that the thefts occurred in various locations including Kolding, Odense, Hvidovre, and multiple sites in Zealand.
The Eastern Foreign National Control Department (Uka Øst), a specialized unit focused on combating traveling criminals, investigated the case. This department employs investigators and analysts to address targeted and persistent crime involving individuals traveling across borders.
Uka Øst has previously handled cases involving similar patterns of organized crime, including the theft of hundreds of side mirrors and extensive misuse of debit cards and theft of expensive tools.
The arrested men are scheduled to appear before a judge in the Court of Nykøbing Falster.
