German Man Fined for Walking on Great Belt Bridge Thinking It Was a Bicycle Path

A 38-year-old German man was fined 700 kroner after being apprehended for walking on the Great Belt Bridge (Storebæltsbroen) in Denmark. The incident occurred around noon on Thursday when police received a report of a pedestrian in the emergency lane.

Responding to the report, a police patrol located the man and took him into custody. He was then transported to the police station in Korsør.

The man explained to authorities that he mistakenly believed the emergency lane was a designated bicycle path permissible for pedestrians. He was subsequently charged with violating traffic laws.

The 38-year-old German national was released on Thursday afternoon following the incident. The South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police detailed the event in their daily report.
