Two 19-year-old men were arrested in Aarhus following a car chase that ended with the stolen vehicle crashing into a railing. The incident began Thursday evening after a car was reported stolen from a parking garage on Østergade.
The owner of the stolen car was able to track its location via GPS, guiding police to Lystrup. Patrol officers located the vehicle at a traffic light between Lystrup Centervej and Sønderskovvej, but the driver refused to stop.
A police pursuit ensued, ending when the stolen car drove onto a green area. The driver and passenger then jumped out of the moving vehicle, which continued onward, hitting several stones before crashing into a railing in front of an apartment entrance.
Police apprehended the driver, who was found to be a 19-year-old without a valid driver’s license. The passenger fled on foot, but based on information provided by the driver, police were able to identify and locate him.
The accomplice, also 19 years old, was apprehended in Risskov after a phone call with police. Both men have been charged with unauthorized use of the car.
In addition to the unauthorized use charge, the driver faces charges of driving without a license and causing a traffic accident by abandoning the moving vehicle.
